The sky is brighter tonight with a new star! Mary Louise Royal passed away peacefully in the early morning hours on January 20, 2016. She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Ted Royal, who was with her till the end; her two children Laurie Ann Hilton (Douglas) and Kimberley Royal (Belinda); 5 grandchildren Anneli Hilton, Deanna McMillan (Aaron), Sean Hilton (Celeste), Sabrina Mott (Chris) and Charleena Secord (Adam); and 6 great-grandchildren Paul, Hannah, James, Harris, Samara, and Isabelle. She was the eldest sister to Gail Pieper (Kurt) of Kingston, ON, Brenda Miller (Ray), Phil Smith, and Dawn Mahaffy (Jeff) of Belleville, ON and Virginia Berry (deceased).
During their life together Mary Louise and Ted resided in Winnipeg, Yarmouth NS, Toronto, Banff, Calgary, Edmonton, and Brandon MB, returning to Calgary in 1978. Mary Louise was an early member of the Calgary Newcomers Club, moving on to the Calgary Nu-grads. She was a devoted and supportive wife, a proud and loving Mum and Nana. She cherished the friendship of many people. Thank you to all the staff at McKenzie Towne Care Centre for their dedication and care of Mary Louise during the last eight years. In particular, a special thank you to Dr. Sosnowski, Donann, Ella, Sanja, Jolanta, Beletu and Manny. Gratitude to Dodi and Val for their many acts of kindness over the years.
A Celebration of Life will be held at SOUTH CALGARY FUNERAL CENTRE, 12700 Macleod Trail South (at Lake Fraser Gate), on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Scottish Rite Charitable Foundation of Canada, 4 Queen St. S, Hamilton, ON. L8P 9Z9.
