May 1, 1948 – June 23, 2011
It is with great sadness that the family of Mark McCullough announces his passing in Calgary on Thursday, June 23, 2011. Mark demonstrated courage and humour while battling cancer. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and colleagues and will always be remembered for his passion, strength of conviction, integrity, loyalty, generous spirit and devotion to his family. Born in Edmonton, where he began his career, Mark moved with his family to Calgary in 1996 to successfully manage the redevelopment of the former CFB Calgary site. Mark was a visionary and his leadership was integral to the success of the award winning communities of Garrison Woods, Garrison Green and Currie Barracks. These communities represent a legacy to his vision and diligence. His leadership and contribution were recently recognized by the City of Calgary at the 2010 Calgary Awards, where Mark received the individual award for environmental achievement. Mark enjoyed travelling, antique sports cars and reading about current affairs. He loved spending time with his family and was always there to listen and provide support. Mark is survived by his son Ben; his daughter Megan; his granddaughter Brooklyn, and his brother Dave. Mark was predeceased by the love of his life Beth. A Celebration of Mark’s Life will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street NW Calgary, on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at 10:00 am. The family also wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to all the medical and nursing staff for their professional care and their compassion.
