Marilynn Joan Robinson passed away peacefully at the age of 88 on July 28, 2017 in Calgary, AB. The youngest of eleven children, Marilynn was born to Ernest and Edna Roszell on May 6, 1929 in Fort William, ON. Marilynn was a dedicated mother, grandmother, wife and friend known for her warm compassion, elegant grace and cheerful charm. She found much joy in creating gatherings full of great friends, good food and lots of laughter. Marilynn also enjoyed travelling for sunshine and shopping, especially with her children, and was particularly fond of her many trips to California and Hawaii. She was predeceased by her husband, Russell Robinson, in 1986. They married on July 12, 1952 in Toronto, Ontario and moved to Calgary in 1961. Together, they lovingly raised 5 children: Susan (Bruce), Judy (Bob), Joan (Greg), Cathy (Peter) and Don (Rose) by whom she is survived. Marilynn is also survived by her grandchildren Rhiannon (Daniel), Kayley (Ryan), Isabelle and Johann; her great-grandson Russell; as well as her brother Barry Roszell of Owen Sound, Ontario and extended family across the country. “You were the sunshine in our days, Granny; thank you for being our guiding light and safe haven. We love you dearly.” A Celebration of Life will be held at Windsor Park Community Hall, 5304 – 6 Street S.W., Calgary, AB, on Sunday, September 10, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to either the Calgary Food Bank, where Marilynn spent many hours happily volunteering or at any local charity in support of animals, in honour of Marilynn’s love for all creatures, great and small.
