Kyla was born on July 9, 1998 in Calgary, Alberta. She was the first child born to Sandra (nee Pfeifer) & Daniel Oelhaupl. Kyla was a gentle and loving person. She was impacted by CP (Cerebral Palsy) but this did not stop her; it made her stronger. Kyla had a contagious smile, which brought joy to everyone around her and her laughter would bring a smile to strangers. Kyla's family, a community of caring individuals and some very special friends surrounded her throughout her life. She loved to be active and spent time bowling, skiing, bike riding, playing baseball, doing arts and crafts, and hiking in Kananaskis. She always looked forward to Mario Kart racing with the family. Kyla’s favourite activity was spending time with her friends and family.
In 2008, Kyla was selected for a family trip by Dreams Take Flight to Disneyland. For a solid 3 days she did not stop, as there was no ride that Kyla would not go on and she laughed while everyone else was screaming.
In 2010, Kyla was made the Ambassador for Easter Seals, which kept her and her mom active with guest appearances as she shared her story. Although Kyla was nonverbal, she was an amazing public speaker. She would chat and laugh alongside her mom as they shared her story in support of Camp Horizon; an amazing place. Kyla loved her moments of fame.
Kyla is survived by her parents Sandra and Daniel, siblings Joshua and Ashley. Kyla is blessed with numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Kyla was predeceased by her Grandma, Katherine Oelhaupl, Grandpa, Ferdinand Oelhaupl, and Grandpa, Johannes Pfeifer.
