After a life filled with music, friends and laughter, the Blue family is saddened to announce the passing of Kim Thomas Blue in Calgary, Alberta on Tuesday, August 1st, 2023. Kim was adored for his kindness, wisdom, generosity, and quick wit. He was born in Edmonton, Alberta on December 8th, 1952. In 1962 the family moved to Calgary where Kim attended school and enjoyed a number of careers – a radio announcer, voiceover artist, radio network manager and realtor. An avid reader and music lover, he was always a popular partner for Name that Tune and trivia contests. Kim and Beverley were married in 1988 and enjoyed many great adventures and made fantastic memories together.
Kim is survived by his adoring wife Beverley; his loving sister Karen of Lethbridge; sisters/brothers-in-law Doreen & Gord Stangowitz and Wendy & Blaine Titterington; nephew Kevin (Joscelyn) Stangowitz (Kira & Joel); and niece Erin (Glenn) Cattani (Isla & Clark). He will also be missed by his best friends Kim Boddy and Steve Castle. He was predeceased by his parents John & Betty Blue.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Selena Au, Nurse Cassie and the staff at the Peter Lougheed Centre ICU for their care and kindness during Kim’s brief illness. We would also like to especially thank his outstanding medical team who took such great care of him over the past years – Dr. John Toole and his staff, Dr. Louis Girard and his nurse Lauren, and the staff at Richmond Pharmacy. You made Kim’s life so much better. We are also grateful for the care and compassion given by Foster’s Garden Chapel.
At Kim’s request, there will be no funeral services. In his memory you might consider donating to the Canadian Diabetes Association at https://www.diabetes.ca
