On Saturday, November 30, 2019, Kelsey Claeys-Ostermann, after a brave battle with cancer, passed away surrounded by her loved ones. Kelsey was born September 30, 1987, and raised in Calgary, Alberta. She graduated from Crescent Heights High School in 2005, and from Mount Royal University in 2015. Kelsey’s caring heart allowed her to quickly and easily make friends from every walk of life. Her good-hearted nature attracted all those around her. Her exuberant spirit was obvious, and her laugh was infectious. Kelsey always knew her mind, she was stubborn when it mattered, and always loved fiercely.
Kelsey found her passion supporting people with disabilities through her work at Between Friends. Her love of softball started at an early age, and as an adult she was heavily involved in the softball community in Calgary where she met her husband Kyle. Along with their children Noel and Holland, they lived each day to the fullest, experiencing and loving every moment spent together. Through their many adventures, her excitement for new experiences made all those around her a little more brave. Kelsey openly gave her love, encouragement, and generosity.
Kelsey was bigger than life, her bright smile lit up every room she was in, and she challenged us all to be better. Though she didn’t want to leave, through her faith Kelsey knew that she was being called to a different purpose.
She will be dearly missed by her husband Kyle; her children, Noel and Holland; her Oma, Helen; her parents, Dennis and Barb; Kyle’s parents, Bev and Diane; her siblings, and everyone who knew her.
Kelsey’s family offers a special thank you to all of the dedicated staff that cared for her at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre. A heartfelt thank you to Kathy, and Meghan for their kindness, and friendship throughout Kelsey’s journey.

A Funeral Service will be held at Foster’s Garden Chapel, on Monday, December 9, 2019 at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to Between Friends (betweenfriends.ab.ca), and continue her legacy of giving beyond self.
