John Romanchuk

November 27, 1921 – October 6, 2011

It is with much sadness that the family of John Romanchuk announce his passing on Thursday, October 6, 2011 at the age of 89 years. John is survived by his loving wife Lillian, of 57 years; their three children, Debora Cross (Ralph), Brian, Sharon Samoil (Wendell); and five grandsons, Andrew Cross (Tasha), Steven Samoil, Daniel Cross, Thomas Samoil and Michael Samoil. He is also survived by his brother Bill; sisters Eva Porter, Veronica (Alex) Uhryn, Lillian (Steve) Shimek; sister-in-law Esther Romanchuk; as well as many nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his parents John and Daisy; his sister Annie Elaschuk and his brothers Fred, Nick, Mike, Alex and Andy. The family would like to thank the staff of Unit 58 at Rockyview Hospital for their care of John. A Funeral Service was held at Foster's Garden Chapel, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Thursday, October 13, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Interment followed at Queen’s Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations may be made directly to the Kidney Foundation of Canada and Southern Alberta, 6007 – 1 A Street S.W., Calgary, AB T2G 0G5 or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta, #200, 119 – 14 Street N.W., Calgary, AB T2N 1Z6.
