John passed away at the Chinook Hospice on February 20, 2011 at the age of 75 years. John is survived by David, Susan, Steven, Kevin, Andrew and Gavin Forshaw as well as his brother Brian in Sunderland, United Kingdom and his Uncle Sammy. Sadly missing him is his dear, close friend Marylin Newfeld. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren. He was predeceased by his loving wife and best friend Margaret Rose on April 23, 2003.
John was born on December 31, 1935 in Sunderland, United Kingdom and trained as a millwright straight out of school. He married Margaret Rose and had six children. He moved to Canada on October 14, 1974 and worked for Michelin Tire, retiring in 1994 and moving to Calgary. Here John had a part in inventing a component that went up in the space shuttle. He enjoyed visiting Banff National Park and taking long walks.
Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at visitation at SOUTH CALGARY FUNERAL CENTRE, 12700 Macleod Trail South, Calgary on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Gerard’s Roman Catholic Church, 8944 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary on Friday, February 25, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. with a reception following.
If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made directly to the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, 1331- 29 St NW, Calgary, AB T2N 4N2.
