Jeffrey Allan Reid

Jeffrey Allan Reid passed away at home, lovingly surrounded by his family, on February 2, 2019 at the age of 72 years. Jeff is lovingly remembered by his wife of 50 years Cathy; their children D. Blake Reid (Sonya Frances); Val Vine (Ken), Suzanne Presslee (Adam) and James (Rose Knibbe); his nine grandchildren Natasha, Aiden, Isaac, Cameron, Michal, Claire, Oliver, Kate and Simon; and his sister Gillian Sherwood in England. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Fred Reid, sister-in-law Theresa Reid and brother-in-law Graeme Sherwood.

We have lost a beautiful human being, a loving father whose children were his pride and joy, a beaming grandfather whose grandchildren brought a smile to his heart, and a dear friend who has touched the hearts of many.

We admire his determination to live life to the fullest, always looking forward, constantly planning. We remember his courageous spirit and mischievous eyes; his smile; his sense of humour. We were impacted by his desire to create space and a place for all of us to enjoy awesome times together, and his gentle way of listening to others and speaking his truth.

We have had amazing times together, full of fun and adventure. He had a love of the outdoors, hiking, camping and wood piles! He gave back to the community as a ringette, hockey and soccer coach and took joy in his many years as a scout leader. But most importantly, he was a family man.

We mourn his passing, and hope that solace is found in the wonderful memories we have of Jeff as a great friend, father and husband. We are grateful for the love given and received, that he is no longer suffering and that his love has been fruitful and felt by many.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Eaglequest Golf Club, (7 Douglas Wood Drive SE), on Thursday, February 7, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to an “In Perpetuity Fund” that will be set up to purchase a memorial bench in Fish Creek. Details will be posted at a later date.
