Janet Harding Kelly

Janet was born in Miniota, Manitoba on January 5, 1938. Janet was the only daughter of the family of David James and Katie Bell. She was raised on a farm in the Blaris District of Manitoba where she resided until leaving home to enter training for a Registered Nurse at the Brandon General Hospital in Brandon, Manitoba. Janet graduated as a Registered Nurse in May 1959. She took her schooling in Blaris and Isabella, Manitoba and loved to visit there whenever possible.

On September 14, 1959 she married James Victor Kelly, a special friend since childhood. Janet lived in a lot of different places as James was going to the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Manitoba and was in second year when they married and also a member of the Air Force. They had postings to Clinton, Ontario, Ottawa, Ontario and Gypsumville, Manitoba before James left the service. They then lived in Ottawa, Ontario, Pinawa, Manitoba and Pembroke, Ontario before retiring and moving to Calgary, Alberta in August 1992, where they resided at the time of her death.

Janet is survived by her husband James of 59 years; two daughters Joanne (Greg) Phillips and Kathy (Chris) Schimnosky; and two grandchildren Cael Schimnosky and Tiana Schimnosky. Janet was predeceased by her parents and her brothers Bob (Evelyn), Murray (Phyllis), Jim (Coral) and Bill (Gloria). Janet is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins in the Bell and Kelly families.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date with interment to follow at the Isabella Cemetery.
