Irma Ethelyn Abelson

It is with deep sadness that we announce that our wonderful mother, Irma Ethelyn Abelson, passed away peacefully, on Tuesday, October 26, 2010, at the age of 84 years. She was the child of James and Dorothy Burgess, born in Boston, Massachusetts on January 7, 1926. Irma married Albert Ivor Abelson on September 15, 1945 and moved west from Halifax, Nova Scotia to make her home in Calgary. Irma is survived by her brothers - Rex and Briant Burgess, and by her sister - Beverly Burgess. Irma and Albert had five children Betty, David, Gary, Brian, and Wendy. She is much loved by her four grandchildren: Dylan, Jamie, Anand, and Thara. Irma was truly loved by all who met her. Her open heart, kindness, and generosity will be remembered by all. Irma's Funeral Service will be held at FOSTER'S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 - 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen's Park Cemetery) on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made directly to Canadian Diabetes Association, 204, 2323 - 32 Avenue N.E., Calgary, AB T2E 6Z3.
