Born February 9, 1925 in Leo, AB, Helen didn’t get to experience the childhood most children do as her mother died when she was 9 years old. At a very young age she started her life of selflessness, compassion, and caring for others.
In 1953 Helen married the love of her life David Horne. They spent 41 years together filled with love and countless happy memories before David passed away in 1994. During those years she became a mother to two daughters. Family was the most important thing in her life. Her love and support for her daughters was unwavering.
Helen was cherished by all who knew her. She will be deeply missed by her loving daughters Karen (Craig), Kathleen (Richard), her beloved grandsons, David (Txell), Jason (Mat), Justin, Matthew, and her 3 great grandchildren whom she loved more than anything.
The family want to thank all the “angels” at Hillcrest Extendicare who took such good care of our precious mom over the past 6 years. Helen had a very special friend at Hillcrest, Gail, who was at her side for the past 6 years.
A Celebration of Helen’s life will be held at St. Barnabas Anglican Church, on Tuesday, January 17 at 1:30 p.m. Reception to follow.
The Salvation Army was there for Helen as a child and she supported them throughout her life. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation, in her memory to the Salvation Army.
