He leaves his lovely wife Jean, daughter Kelly and her husband Kyle, of course the 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
He was born in Montreal, having only one older brother who also passed away. His dad passed away when Gordon was only 21 and was left with a mother who was not too well, therefore, leaving Gordon to take care of her until he was about 36 when she passed away. Gordon left Montreal and came to Toronto for about 8 years. Then, by train, he came to Calgary where he lived until now. Gordon was still single and it was not very long before a lovely young girl, Jean, who he met at the Rocky View School Division in which they both worked for about 21 years. Jean as a secretary in the personnel department and Gordon as a clerk in the accounts payable department. She soon latched on to him and they got married right away. They had a daughter who at 18 married and had a number of children. 11 (yes 11) 6 girls, 5 boys, and 3 great-grandchildren, all of which loved their grandpa very much.
Gordon will be remembered for his beautiful tenor voice. He joined many church choirs, barbershop harmony groups, Confederation Senior Choir in which he sang many solos in the senior homes. He was also one of the song and dance men in a group here in Calgary called the “Silver Stars Revue Society”.
Gordon was a gentleman (most of the time) and had a quiet personal relationship with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
Gordon loved flowers so they will be gratefully accepted.
A service will be held on January 6, 2023 at 11am at South Calgary Funeral Centre (12700 Macleod Trail S, Calgary, Alberta T2J 7E5) with a viewing prior to the service at 10am. Interment will follow at 2:30pm at Rockyview Garden of Peace Cemetery.
