April 16, 1927 - April 22, 2011
With sadness the family of George Aubrey Sutton announces his passing on Friday, April 22, 2011, shortly after his eighty-fourth birthday. George was born in Sceptre, SK to Hilda and Stan Sutton and lived in various towns throughout Saskatchewan and Alberta. He did surveying by bush plane in the northern parts of both provinces, worked on farms, and enjoyed hockey and curling, eventually making his way to Calgary. There he met his wife Pat and they were married in August, 1952. He started in September 1952 with Canadian Western Natural Gas, now Atco Gas, enjoying his thirty-five years of service, retiring in 1987. George cherished family gatherings, parties with friends, trips to Hawaii, his and Pat's snowbird winters in Mesa, Arizona, talking politics, knew his world geography, loved animals and hockey. He is survived by his loving wife, Pat; two daughters and sons-in-law, Joy Sutton-Loxam (David) and Joan Giles (lan); three grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his sister Muriel Gregory (Ralph), Aunt Loro Regan, and Pat’s sister Irene DeWolfe. A celebration of life was held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W. Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. Please bring stories to share or send memories to www.fostersgardenchapel.ca. If friends desire, memorial donations may be made directly to a charity of one’s choice. Special thanks to Dr. Sharmilla Naidoo for her compassionate care and the staff of Unit 37 at Foothills Hospital.
