Fred Simons passed away at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary, AB on Monday, April 4, 2011, just short of his eighty-eighth birthday. Throughout his life he was actively involved in his community as a scout leader for the Boy Scouts, square dancing, curling and as an ardent member of the Springbank Heritage Club. Fred is survived by his wife of sixty years, Dorothy June Simons; son Wayne Douglas Simons; sisters-in-law; numerous nieces and nephews. Fred will also be sadly missed by friends and family. He was predeceased by his son Donald Grant Simons, parents Stanley and Frances Simons and brother Stanley Norman Simons. A private Family Service and Interment will be held. The family cordially invites relatives, friends and Square Dancer’s to a Celebration of Fred’s Life to be held at Springbank Heritage Club, 244168 Range Road 33 (Springbank), Calgary on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Fred’s memory may be made directly to Scouts Canada, 1345 Baseline Road, Ottawa, ON K2C 0A7.
