After a short and courageous battle with cancer, Frank Pollard passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre in Calgary, AB. Frank is fondly and lovingly remembered by his very special friend and traveling companion, Andie, the Lajoie family and many friends and colleagues in the music community. He was predeceased by his mother, father and his wife Ruth Lajoie. Frank lived his life doing what he loved most, playing drums and immersing himself in music. In 1965, Frank formed his own band while also playing with numerous other bands including the Righteous Brothers, Bobby Goldsboro and Doris Troy, just to name a few. He was a well-travelled musician performing throughout North America including Hawaii, Alaska and Asia. In 1983, he relocated to Calgary and became a very successful self-employed booking agent. In 1984, he was nominated agent of the year by A.R.I.A. (Alberta Recording Industries Association). Frank was a kind, respectful and gentle soul. He was an avid reader, loved politics and was extremely knowledgeable about music/musicians. Frank was very active within the Calgary music circle and will be greatly missed at the Ironwood. Thank you to Angy and Kenton for providing daily loving dedication and special friendship. We also wish to thank all the medical staff, doctors, nurses and caregivers for all the excellent care given to Frank over the past two months.
