We are heartbroken to announce the sudden passing of Frank. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Loa, of 49 years, his sons and daughters-in-law who were his pride and joy, John (Karla), Mark (Tanis) and his precious grandchildren Mckinley, Ainsley, Archer and Arden. His knowledge and guidance were the foundation of his family who always came first.
Frank was born in Medicine Hat to John and Frances Deering. At an early age, the family moved to a farm near Condor, Alberta. He attended Condor School, David Thompson High and finally NAIT, graduating in Instrumentation Technology. Frank worked in the natural gas industry starting as a field technician, then moved on to a Measurement Specialist role. He enjoyed overseeing the Canadian Gas Association as president for a year.
Frank loved spending time outdoors with his family, camping, teaching his sons to fish, and summers spent at Sylvan Lake golfing with Loa and the boys. Throughout the years, Frank was a loyal and passionate fan of all his sons various sporting activities. Most recently he loved watching and cheering on his grandchildren in their pursuits. As an adoring dog & animal lover, he spent much of his time walking, doting on, and cuddling his beautiful Sheltie Keilana.
After retirement, Frank was focused on his passion for 1970 LS6 Chevelles. He completed a body off restoration on his own Chevelle and in 2003 entered the Calgary World of Wheels car show where he won Best in Show, Best Antique/Restored and Best in Paint. His knowledge and immeasurable amount of time aiding others in their restoration earned him the nickname “Mr. Chevelle”.
Frank is survived by his devoted sisters Karen (Ray) Letourneau, Connie (Vern) Dentman, brothers-in-law, Bud and Jack (Deb) Thompson, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, October 8 from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm at the Sundance Lake Hall - 63 Suncrest Way SE Calgary.
