Frank was born on June 28, 1939 in Cerenzia, Italy. He married the love of his life, Rosa, on February 27, 1960 and came to Canada in February of 1961. He and Rosa were blessed with five daughters and then opened a successful restaurant for 30 years, Caffe Dello Sport (Frank's) in downtown Calgary, and later Cucina Amore in Cochrane. He had many loyal customers and staff through the business who became much like family. Many customers would come not only to enjoy a beautiful meal, but to be entertained by his wonderful singing, most notably his unforgettable Italian folk song about a man and his donkey, "U Ciuccio".
Frank had a passion for cooking amazing meals, watching WWE Wrestling and gameshows, playing cards with his sons-in-law, and especially hanging out with his grandchildren. Family was so important to him. He cherished every moment with us, as we will always cherish our moments with him. We will miss him dearly, but will remain in our hearts forever. We take comfort in knowing that he is now reunited with our mother, who he has missed every moment of these last 3 years since she passed. He is no longer suffering, though he never complained.
He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Cathy and Tony Iannuzzi, John Migliarese, Carla and Piero Novello, Maria and Guido Barone, Franca and Angelo De Michele; 12 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews in Calgary and Italy. He is also survived by his brothers, Ernesto of Calgary, and Peppino and Giovanni of Italy. He was predeceased by his wife, Rosa, in 2018, his daughter, Connie, in 2021, his three sisters and one brother.
The family would like to extend our gratitude to Dr. Rodel Cenabre, who treated our dad like family, Dr. Chandra Thomas, Unit 37 at Foothills Hospital, and Amanuel from Paramed for their care and compassion. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation at https://kidney.ca , Diabetes Canada at https://www.diabetes.ca or the MS Society of Canada at https://mssociety.ca. Frank donated generously and regularly to these charities. We love you and we miss you. Until we meet again.
The family kindly requests that all those wishing to attend wear masks.
