It is with profound sadness that the family of Emmie Kwai Tai (Chan) Wong announce her peaceful passing on July 15, 2020, in Calgary, Alberta, at the age of 80 years after a courageous battle with cancer.
Emmie was born in Hong Kong on November 21, 1939 to Chung Yuet Chan and May Yui (Lee) Chan. She immigrated to Canada and married Dick Ling Yick Wong on December 10, 1963 in Vancouver, British Columbia. They raised 3 children in Swift Current, Saskatchewan and moved to Calgary, Alberta in 1995 to enjoy their retirement. During her retirement, she loved to travel with her family and particularly had a soft spot for Disneyland. She would never miss her favourite television shows on the Chinese channel and she loved having the entire family together for dinner. Her greatest pleasure was spending time with her grandchildren and watching them grow up. She touched many lives with her generosity, kindness and love. She will be sadly missed by many.
Emmie will be lovingly remembered by her husband Dick of 56 years; children Dennis (Chiyoko), Daniel (Kiyomi), and Teresa (Rob); grandchildren Devon, Koneko, Kai, Emiko and Koji; siblings Judy (Willie), Wah Tak (Veronica), Anita; and numerous other family members and friends.
Emmie was predeceased by her parents, Chung Yuet Chan, May Yui (Lee) Chan; and sister Jeannie Kwai Ying (Chan) Woo.
A private family service and burial will be held at a later date.
The family would like to thank Dr.Webster and the staff at Foothills Medical Centre Special Services Unit 46 for their care of our beloved wife and mother.
