Dear Hazel, Arn, Gene & Joanne and Families, Jeff & I were so saddened to hear of Ed's passing.  Since knowing the family for well over 40 years we always looked up to Ed as a dear friend one that will be missed greatly!  I (Jeff) had the privilege of sitting under his teaching a few times and was always amazed at his knowledge of the Word.  When we come to visit again we will be saddened not to see his smiling face and his dry sense of humour!  Our loving prayers are with you always!

Dear Hazel, Arnold, Gene and your families, Carlynn and I are so saddened by the loss of Ed. He graced us all with a long life, but his contribution, ministry and influence on us and so many others was such that we cannot help but feel his absence. I had a delightful and long phone conversation with him just weeks before his passing. For that I am grateful. His influence on my life and future direction was significant, so I continue to cherish his memory. Thank God our consolation is in the promise of God that this is not the end. He is now surely enjoying the benefits of the grace of God that he so fervently believed and unwaveringly preached. May he rest in peace!

Am saddened to hear of Rev. Wickens' passing, but rejoice in knowing he has gone to his Father in Heaven.  I have VERY fond memories of all the times he came to tune my piano, and was always to willing to teach me a new tune on the piano, and something more of this history of the piano I was blessed to have. ... To Mrs. Wickens and Family - know you're in our prayers and in the prayers of many more, across the country.

Dear Bro Wickens..I rejoiced with him when heard of his passing...he was so anxious to go. He was one of the finest men I know...kind, wise and always seemed to be interested in what I was doing.  My first real memory of him was when he was building his house on Smythe St in Fredericton.  Some of my classmates and I at UPBI would go with him after classes to help with the painting. We would laugh and joke with him..he was so down to earth, it never occurred to us that we were with the president of the school or superintendent of the district..always very comfortable to be around. I, too, like a previous guest, so appreciated his teaching on the grace of God. If I could have one wish, it would be for him to come back for 5 minutes to give us in his inimitable way, a glimpse of heaven.
Before closing, I want to tell Sis Wickens that I still recall her delightful laughter at the Bible School...may the joy of the Lord help to sustain her in the days ahead.

 Was so saddened to hear of Uncle Ed's passing. All my love to Aunt Hazel, Arn, Eugene and family. Uncle Ed was a gifted teacher of the word, and will be greatly missed. Our loss is heaven's gain.

Dear Hazel, Gene, Arne and family, Jacques and I were so pleased that Joanne thought to call us to let us know that Ed has passed.  We just spoke of Ed and Hazel this past weekend and how we wondered how they were doing and laughing because the ancient generator Ed had given us several years ago kept us going through our recent bout with the hurricane that blew through our area.  Even in his passing Ed was looking after us!
Hazel, you and Ed were so special to Jacques, Samantha and myself.  Ed had such a unique way of looking right at you, almost as if he could see into your soul and always with such compassion and humour but also with conviction if he was speaking of something he believed in.  I had the pleasure of popping into his little office that adjoined our two houses and he could give me a brief rundown of what he wanted to speak about on his upcoming radio show for that week. He would tell me that he couldn't believe that they wanted "an old man like me", to be on the radio. This is part of what was Eds charm.  He had such brilliance, but was so humble and grateful for every day of his life and I can't tell you how much Ed still remains with us.  Hazel, you had more years with Ed that some people have to live, and I am sure you wish you had another 71. Please know that Jacques, Samantha and I think about you often and send only good thoughts to you and your family at this very difficult and sad time.  The only person who is not sad is Ed, he is finally reaping his reward for a wonderful life lived.

He was a man of dignity yet had the touch of the common man. So glad we got to visit with you folks while we were in Calgary in May. When Bro. Phoebe and I had great respect for Rev. E.P. Wickens; he was a frequent guest at  our home in his earlier days - always a gentleman, Bible scholar and intelligent conversationalist. He preached in our church on many occasions; he was a man you could completely trust - we have great memories; one summer he parked his camper on our lawn and we enjoyed great fellowship. There are so many great things that should, could and will be said and remembered about Bro. Wickens. He made a big difference in my life to say the least. Perhaps the greatest thing he did for me personally, was during the Bible School days, guide my path into an understanding of the grace of God - what more could be most rewarding for my walk with God! Yet beside marring Alta and myself, being her "boss" at Bible School and a great friend and encourager to us both - we loved to talk and visit with him and Sis. Wickens over the years. He was always interested and there was no end to Bible "discussions". We even "smuggled Bibles" together! (note: Ed Wickens face book entry).

Bro. Wickens was a man of God and a gracious Christian gentleman.  He was someone whom you felt you could completely trust.  We were the richer for having known him and poorer for losing him, even though the loss is only temporary.

I recall Ed Wickens from Harvey Camp when I was a small boy. During the last 15 years of his life I became reaquainted with him and found him to be a thoughtful and good man, committed to God and to ethical behavior in everything he said and did. We had many stimulating conversations and email exchanges and I looked forward to annual visits. 

In 1143 Peter the Venerable wrote a lengthy letter in which he recounted the last days of the theologian Peter Abelard. The letter says that Abelard lived quietly, in piety and in constant study. “He was engaged on such holy occupations when the Visitor of the Gospels came to find him, and found him awake, not asleep like so many, found him truly awake, and summoned him to the wedding of eternal life . . . . As the time came for him to pay the common debt of humanity with eagerness of heart he received the body of our Lord and Redeemer for his journey; the pledge of eternal life.” 

I am confident that E.P. Wickens was found truly awake in God and that he has made his journey to the wedding of eternal life. I will miss him.

My wife and I were saddened by the news of passing of a dear friend and fellow minister of the Gospel of Christ.  We were always pleased to visit with him and share with him his great insights into the word and his wisdom in applying it to the times in which we live. Sorry to hear of the passing of my great friend and mentor EP Wickens.
I was ordained under his ministry and he was a great example of Christianity to me. His wisdom will not be forgotten.
