He leaves his devoted wife of 71 years Hazel Wickens of Calgary, sons; Arnold of Moncton and Gene (Joanne) of Calgary, grandchildren; Renee (Spencer) Welch of Vancouver and Chadd Wickens of Calgary and great-granddaughters; Olivia & Isabella Welch of Vancouver. Edwin was predeceased by brothers; Everett and Ernie and sisters; Eva, Bessie, Dorothy, Irene and Florrie. He leaves an extensive legacy of ministry and teaching throughout Canada and elsewhere. His wisdom and ability to illustrate practical Christianity was valued by all who heard him. Age did not limit Edwin. Building a house and motorcycling in his late sixties; learning computer and building cabinets in his seventies; developing and delivering a radio talk in his eighties and continuing to read and study into his nineties. We will miss his dry sense of humour, sharp mind and ability to “cut to the chase”. As husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, minister, advisor and friend he will be profoundly missed and fondly remembered. Special friends, Reverend Larry and Sandra Moore, were faithful with their weekly visits and treats. Special thanks to palliative home care nurse Nancy Nawalkowski, Janet Bullard and the rest of the Alberta Health Palliative Care team. Thanks for the care given by Harag and Amrit of CBI Home care.
