It is with sadness that we announce the passing of June Barnett on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at the age of 87. June will be dearly missed by her three daughters, Robin Barnett, Gillian Steedman (Robert), and Stephanie Barnett, grandson Alec, granddaughter Audrey (Mike) and their son Heath, grandson Graham, and June’s cousin Carolyn. June was predeceased by her husband Kenneth in 2021.
June spent her career working for Alberta Government Telephones / TELUS in several roles, as a long-distance operator, service representative, and draftsperson. She enjoyed her retirement years, spending time with her husband Ken, family, and friends. June was active in the West Hillhurst Go-Getters Association, both as a committee official and as an enthusiastic supporter of the association and its activities, especially bingo, where she enjoyed many enduring friendships. June took up driving in her 70s and relished her new-found freedom. She proudly assumed the title “GG” upon the birth of her great-grandson. June was curious by nature, and an avid reader.
A Celebration of June’s Life will be held at a later date.
