David was born January 28, 1911 in Scotland and passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 13, 2011 at the age of one hundred years. During the Second World War, he was stationed in France and Egypt and coordinated ground defences. David’s most cherished memory was meeting his wife, Beatrice Ann, nee Waterhouse, at a dance hall in England. They immigrated to Ontario in 1950. David was a boxing champion in his early years and enjoyed making soapstone and jewellery during his retirement. He was a skilled tradesmen throughout his working career. David is survived by his sons, Paul of Sooke, BC, David (Rosie) of Kelowna BC and Bruce (Dayle) of Calgary, AB; grandchildren, Amanda Drummond of Peterborough, ON, Kerri Drummond of Calgary, Yolanda and Nicki Drummond, both of Kelowna, BC. He was predeceased by his wife, Beatrice Ann, on November 4, 1998 and his youngest son, Terry on August 5, 1990. David lived a prosperous, healthy and long life. He was the oldest resident of the Colonel Belcher. His memories are heartfelt and cherished. He will be sadly missed by his son Bruce and wife Dayle. A Funeral Service will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Thursday, October 20, 2011 at 1:00p.m. Interment will follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
