David Harold Burger passed away peacefully at the Foothills Hospital on September 15th, 2022 at the age of 79. David is lovingly remembered by his wife Ruth, children Michael (Carla), Angela, Lisa, Stephen (Kate), step-children Christian (Lourdes), Randolph (Beverly), Rutherine, Crystal (Sebastien), grandchildren Ashleigh, Hannah, Dylan, Anthony, Rebekah, his brother Dennis (Dianne), nieces, nephews and step-grandchildren.
David is predeceased by his father Harold and his mother Elizabeth.
David was born in Edmonton and raised on a farm southwest of Stony Plain. From there he went on to get his Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Alberta and his Masters of Engineering from the University of Calgary. On the train ride home from Expo ’68 David met his first wife Patricia. They were married for 36 years and had four children before separating.
David was a successful Reservoir Engineer in Calgary prior to working overseas. While there, he began his ministry work and met his current wife Ruth. They married in 2005 in the Philippines before returning to Canada in 2007.
He continued with God’s work in Calgary and became the President of the local chapter of the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship and co-pastor at Calgary for Christ Ministries. He volunteered with the Mustard Seed serving meals to the homeless.
He will be remembered as a kind, gentle, generous and loving man who dedicated his life to helping others. He loved sports, gardening and a good cut of Alberta Beef.
A Celebration of Life will be held at SOUTH CALGARY FUNERAL CENTRE, 12700 Macleod Trail South (at Lake Fraser Gate) Calgary, on Wednesday, September 28 at 11:00 am.
