Dave was born on October 9, 1961 in Chatham, Ontario, shortly thereafter, the family moved out west and settled in Calgary, Alberta. Dave will be sadly missed by his 3 sons; Bryon, Blair and Davis, along with his parents, Paul and Eileen, and siblings; Donna (Colt), Greg (Donna), John, Richard (Lisa), and many nieces and nephews. Dave was predeceased by his brother Robert (Lenora). He will also be lovingly remembered by his close friends, neighbours and colleagues.
Growing up Dave was involved in many sports including hockey, skiing, tennis and was a lifelong golfer at Silver Springs Golf Course. Dave graduated from Arizona State University with Bachelor of Science, Business. He had a long and successful career at CBRE in Calgary, joining in 1993 and was responsible for some of the largest commercial real estate transactions in Western Canada.
Dave’s greatest joy were his 3 sons. Dave loved spending time with the boys watching them in their many chosen sports, boating, motor cross, biking and camping. He was also an avid photographer and captured many of these moments on film and they are truly cherished.
Dave was the ultimate host and cook for this family and friends, especially his annual Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. One of Dave’s passions was the annual outdoor rink built in the nearby park by the city and maintained by the neighborhood, with the use of a Zamboni. Who else, but Dave, would think an outdoor public rink should have its own Zamboni?
Dave had a generous and warm heart, a voice of reason, and a fantastic and welcoming presence. He created many memories and legacies to remember and cherish.
A celebration of Dave’s life will be held at a future date.
If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made directly to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or Diabetes Canada.
