Daniel Irvine Peters

Dan was born and raised outside of Lacombe, Alberta, the youngest of five children. Although his intention was to be a farmer, rheumatic fever forced a change in his career plans. Instead, he attended the University of Alberta where he received his Bachelor of Science in Agriculture. He moved to Northern Alberta where he met and married Barbara Stuart, the love of his life. Together they raised seven children. Dan enjoyed a long career in land management and agriculture which took the family throughout the province of Alberta, with a brief stint in Colorado where he earned his Master of Adult Education.

Dan was passionate about many things in life. He loved being outdoors in nature whether it was yard work, camping, or just a long walk. His love of animals and farming persisted long after his retirement as he continued to own livestock and willingly helped any farmers and friends with whatever outdoor chores they had. Dan always enjoyed singing in choirs, from his university days until just weeks before his passing with the Good News Singers. He loved to see new places and meet new people: he made new friends wherever he went. Most importantly, Dan will be remembered for his love of family, his compassion, and his deep faith in God.

Although our hearts are broken, we know that he is now with his precious Lord and Savior. He is lovingly remembered by his wife Barbara, his son, daughters, and those he raised as his own: Lynette, Daniel (Karen), Jeanette (Ken Brown), Brad, Mark, Darien and Cameron, grandchildren Daniel Amos, Emily (William Teichroeb), and Kate, as well as great-grand daughter Tess.

Memorial Services will be held at First Evangelical Free Church, (732 55 Ave SW, Calgary AB) on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Jaime Cisterna officiating. A private interment will follow in the spring.
