Daniel Durand

January 7, 1927 – April 21, 2012

Daniel Alexander Durand passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at the Chinook Hospice in Calgary on Saturday at the age of 85 years. Daniel is lovingly remembered by his daughters Sheila Durand, Margo Hargreaves and Carla (Keith) Drader; daughter-in-law Susan Durand; grandchildren Jonathan (Alayne), and David (Deborah) Durand, Allison, Matthew and Jennifer Hargreaves, Kimberly Tackaberry, and Bethany Drader; and great-grandchildren Brody, Harrison and Grace Durand. He is also survived by his brother Joel Durand. Daniel was predeceased by his wife Hazel in 2007 and his son Monty in 2008. He was a man of integrity with a strong faith and work ethic. During his working career, he was involved in the floor covering business, real estate, owned a florist shop and the family business Durand’s Ltd. Editions. After his retirement, Daniel spent his free time building and flying model airplanes, enjoying holidays and spending time with those who were most important: family and friends. He will be missed by all. A Memorial Service will be held at Foothills Alliance Church, 333 Edgepark Boulevard NW, Calgary on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at 12:30 p.m. with Rev. Ian Trigg and Rev. Denzel Fenn officiating. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to Transform Asia, a rescue ministry of Pastor Fenn in Cambodia. This was a favorite charity of Daniel Durand.
