It makes me so happy to see all these stories about Connie’s life and everything she experienced. I never got to know all these parts of her because she was my therapist but I felt and saw her joy so clearly in her energy and kindness. I remember sharing a laugh when she showed me her Keanu Reeves pillow during a session to lighten the mood. She had the coolest tapestry too which definitely checks out with everyone’s compliments on her style. I felt that we were kindred spirits — something tells me that she made many people feel that way. It saddens me that I never knew what she had gone through when talking to her about my dad’s diagnosis. I can easily say that she changed my life. I’m forever grateful to her for helping me in one of the hardest parts of it. I’ll never forget Connie in all my years or the positive impact she’s had on the world. I’m so incredibly lucky to have known her. I wish endless peace for her friends and family. When you miss her most, you’ll find parts of her in you.

My condolences to Connie’s family and friends. It’s so hard to believe that Connie is no longer with us. I’ve known Connie since late 2010 when we both moved to Toronto around the same time. We were roommates for almost 4 years, and friends for 13 years. She loved experiencing new things, whether it’s a new place or different exciting foods! She never shied away from an adventure.

Connie was a great friend for the people that were lucky to have her in their lives. She was always available to talk and was very honest with her opinions, which I valued greatly. 

Even though we lost Connie too soon I take comfort in the fact that she prioritized living life and experiencing it to the fullest as much as can. 

While it will be hard not to be able to talk with her, I know that the memories will last a lifetime. I hope you will rest in peace, Connie!

"Loved to be with other people" is such an apt description of Connie. Connie was so full of life and love for people and for this world; she didn't waste any time pursuing her dreams and adventures. She was and continues to be such an inspiration to me and to the people around her. She will be greatly missed.

I was seeking a psychotherapist at a challenging time of my life and found Connie in my search for an Asian Canadian one that might more easily understand my background. She was immediately so kind, understanding, and patient, and  most importantly very genuine. She definitively helped me in a way only she could, and I’m a much stronger, well equipped person thanks to her. I feel lucky to have had her as part of my support system and I’m so sad to see this latest update. My deepest condolences to her friends and family.

From playing field hockey together in Calgary, to traveling around Spain, to eating at cool restaurants in Toronto, I have so many good memories with Connie. She was such a fun, positive and caring person. It is hard to believe she is gone.

To Connie's nearest and dearest, 

I am so sorry for your loss. Connie was a beautiful, smart, funny, kind, brave, fierce, wonderful person. Connie's parents - you raised such an amazing woman, always feel so so proud of that. She touched so many people's lives. 

I met Connie in 2007 when we shared student accommodation in Lund and we hit it off straight away. The kind of person Connie was, everybody felt at ease and connected with her from the get go. She had such a wicked sense of humour, we were always, always laughing. We mixed in the same circle of friends, with Danlin  and Jen - who still in contact with.  I was so upset when Connie left Lund and went back to Canada but it wasn't long before she came to visit me over in Scotland (Kilmarnock of all places, couldn't believe Connie in Kilmarnock!). My mum met her and loved her too, we still talk about when she visited. 

Over the years we lost contact for a while but then reconnected over Skype, WhatsApp and such like through video calls. I really regret not going over to visit her in New York when she worked there or back in Canada. I so wanted to come over last year but I have a wee baby so it just wasn't feasible. Please forgive me. 

I will cherish every single memory I have of Connie and all the good memories made together. She just had this amazing ability to make you feel so special when you were with her. She always saw the funny side and her positivity was truly remarkable. She really was one of a kind.

Celebration held 1st of May throughout Sweden to celebrate the "last of April" and a foretaste of summer. We sat in that park a aaaalll day laughing, dancing, meeting new people. I'll always remember Connie's laugh ❤️

Connie and I had been friends since we met in 2009. We both worked together at Loblaws and had the pleasure of hanging out in Ontario  together with many other of our Loblaw coworkers and friends at the grad@Loblaws training program. We have been great friends ever since!

This message is for Connie's family. I only met with Sherwin in Toronto when Connie moved here (a while back)  briefly but I want you to know you are in my mind, my heart and in my prayers. I am very sorry for the loss of your daughter, sibling, and aunt. My deepest condolences.

For me, Connie will forever be associated with the beach and strawberries. One time, while on Toronto's Centre Island, we came across a strawberry festival for seniors. We were intrigued and investigated. The outdoor space was decorated with cardboard strawberry cutouts and balloons but there were no strawberries. Connie and I thought that was hilarious. The saving grace of the festival was that they sold strawberry ice cream, which Connie bought for the both of us. 

Since Connie's passing, I've been eating strawberries everyday in the form of ice cream, jam and real strawberries just to keep close to her. 

Of course, there are many wonderful memories, but this is one I wanted to share. 

I am grateful for the privilege of having known this beautiful soul.

I first met Connie when she was 18 years old; we were both modeling in Calgary and often joked about the ironies of the industry. We shared countless great times together bonding over our shared view of society, dating, and career choices! When Connie moved to Toronto, she stayed with me for a while, a time during which we grew incredibly close. Over the years, we have shared our triumphs and trials of life!
Connie was one of the most beautiful, fashionable, and incredibly intelligent people I've ever known. Our conversations were always profound and engaging, often taking place over meals at trendy restaurants (which honestly, I depended on Connie to choose because she was so good at knowing the best food) or during long, aimless walks. We never needed to make plans after walks because we never knew how long our conversations would last – we could spend hours just talking – sometimes from lunch to dinner plans!
Her remarkable laugh, her smile, her sense of humor, and her capacity for intellectual conversation will be deeply missed. Connie’s spirit and the moments we shared will forever hold a special place in my heart. She was one of my greatest friends in Calgary, Toronto and visiting her when she was studying at NYU!

Connie taught me to stand up for myself and not take crap from anyone! She was an inspiration in her ability to live her truth unapologetically,  take risks, and shine her light in the world. Connie will live on in my choice to live courageously!

I met Connie in 2010. We were both in a phase of transition. Connie was always a light people would gravitate toward. You were the sister I never had. I can’t express how much I cherish the time we had together.

Knowing and growing up with Connie in Jr High and High School years.  Watching her distantly thrive while in NY and Toronto and her return back to Calgary we were able to reconnect as adults. Sharing stories and the process of our health, our travels, our now. Youve been on my mind and I can hear your laugh and feel your smile.  May your spirit be free and fly high. I had the good fortune of meeting Connie in 2008 when I went on exchange to Lund, Sweden. Even though she already had many friends there, she kindly invited me to events and to hang out. I have fond memories of fun parties, beach days and hangouts. When I moved to Toronto in 2010 for a job, we reconnected and she has been my good friend ever since. Connie introduced me to many friends in Toronto. I was looking back at photos of fun group memories and Connie organized 95% of these events. I would have less friends, had less fun and tried less delicious restaurants without Connie. She has truly enriched my life. It brings me comfort that ever since I met her she has always lived life to the fullest and never let herself stay unhappy. She went after her dreams with passion and optimism. She truly was one of the most optimistic people I knew. Even when her cancer returned, she did not lose hope. She continued to enjoy life and organize events that brought people together until she moved back to Calgary to be with her family. I've already missed her very much since her move and looked forward to every time she would be in town. It is hard to believe she won't ever come back for a visit. To anyone who has been lucky enough to have Connie in their lives, I am sorry for your loss.

Dear Joy, and Connie's parents and brothers, 

I had the pleasure and privilege of being good friends with Connie in Toronto from 2020 onwards when we lived together in the same condo building. 

We had so many wonderful joyful times and experiences together, from going to the ballet and various city-wide events to long walks and shopping expeditions.  Once her diagnosis crept in, our time together existed in new spaces and it was very humbling to be in the presence of Connie's unwavering strength and bravery during such difficult times and circumstances. She was so loved, and was a wonderful caring friend. She will be missed dearly.
