We have lost a spark of light that shone brightly, but far too briefly.
It is with indescribable sorrow we announce the passing of Christopher Torma at the age of 38 years. Chris died accidentally on Saturday, December 7, 2013 outside of Squamish, British Columbia.
Chris, known as Rabbit to his friends, died as he lived: Pushing himself to the limits, challenging himself and those around him, never taking things for granted. He leaves behind his mother, Judy Torma of Calgary; father, Ronald Weatherby (Siobhan) of Belleville, Ontario; his brother and sister-in-law, Justin Rimmer and Melanie Boyce; brother Mason Weatherby; sister Kelly Weatherby and grandparents, Marvin and Viona Weatherby of St. Stephen, New Brunswick. Also grieving his loss are Aunt Susan Weatherby, Uncle Robert Weatherby and Aunt Sandie and Uncle John Torma; cousins, Andy Torma, Jenn Lowderman (Gary), Melissa Torma (Jess), and Stephen Torma; and his niece, Josephine Boyce. Chris was predeceased by his grandparents, Anthony and Magdalena Torma.
Chris' love of travelling led him across Canada and the United States, but he made his home in Vancouver for the past few years, along with his beloved dog, Malhavoc. He developed a love of the backcountry with his father and would often 'disappear' into the wilderness of BC for days or weeks at a time. More recently, his dream was to restore and live on his boat off the coast of BC, but despite being within months of completion, he was not able to launch "Tyranny" before his untimely passing.
Cremation has taken place in care of Foster’s Garden Chapel. There will be no service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to the Calgary Drop-In and Rehab Centre, 1-4 Ave S.E., Calgary, AB T2G OP8 . Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family via the website www.fostersgardenchapel.ca.
