We are saddened to share that Christine went home to be with her Lord on July 28, 2023 after a brief illness. She is joining her husband, Man Pang, and her parents. Born in Hong Kong at the height of WWII, she and her mother fled the island to the mainland while her father worked alongside the British Army. Christine graduated from Sir George Williams University (now Concordia) and started working as a social worker and met her husband soon after. They moved to Vancouver, and then settled in Toronto for over 40 years. In recent years, she moved to Calgary to be close to her daughter. Wherever she went, Christine was known to share her faith fearlessly and gift others with books, food, and love.
Christine is lovingly remembered by her daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne & Daniel Sawyer; her granddaughters, Naomi, Esther, and Bethany; and her many friends and extended family in Canada and overseas.
We are thankful for the care and support of the staff of Unit 54 at Foothills Medical Center. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Christine’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or Operation Smile.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing. ”2 Timothy 4:7-8 (NIV)
A Celebration of Christine’s Life will be held on Saturday, August 19th, 2023 at 1:30 p.m. at WESTVIEW BAPTIST CHURCH (1313 Ranchlands Way NW, Calgary, AB).
The Celebration of Christine's Life will also be live streamed for those who wish to attend virtually.
