Alexander R. Schmidt

March 22, 1938 – June 24, 2013

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of a loving husband, father and grandfather, Alexander Schmidt, on Monday, June 24, 2013 in Calgary, AB. Alex was born on March 22, 1938 in Grunau, Russia. After the war, he grew up in Wiesau, Germany and emigrated to Canada in 1957. Alex embraced all the opportunities this great country had to offer. He became a journeyman carpenter and then a Construction Technologist. Alex spent over 40 years in the construction industry and was a lifetime member of ASET. He was predeceased by his mother, Eugenia Kunz (nee Schmidt). He is survived by his wife Rose; his son Alex (Sandra) and his grandchildren, “his little angels”, Sarah and Catherine. The Funeral Service will be held at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 243209 Garden Road N.E., Calgary, Alberta, Canada on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family via the website www.fostersgardenchapel.ca.
