John (Jack) Philip Wisener II, age 75 of Lowell, MI went to be with his Savior after an extended illness. He was born in Sidney, OH to John and Dorothy Wisener. He attended Grand Rapids Baptist College where he met and married Paula Maile and settled in Grand Rapids, MI.
Jack enjoyed music and song writing; he was a prolific reader and had the gift of being able to fix almost anything mechanical. He started his career in the furniture industry at Brandt of Grand Rapids, was a realtor for many years, and later worked in the IT Department of Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital until retirement. In his later years, he enjoyed teaching scripture at Calvary Baptist Church where he was a member for almost 50 years. He was eager to share with everyone around him how good God was to him, even after his wife of 46 years died unexpectedly in 2018.
Jack is preceded in death by his wife, Paula; both of his parents; and his younger brother, Jim. He leaves behind his children John (Tammy) Wisener III, Christy (Derek) Whalen. He was very proud of his seven grandchildren who will miss him dearly: Derek, Deanna, and Charis Whalen, Alyssa, Cole, Sophie, and Brie Wisener. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Ardith Maile; relatives Denny Maile, Larry Maile, Joanie (Ron) Liedkie; and 12 nieces, nephews, and their families.
A private celebration of Jack’s life will take place at a time and date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Calvary Baptist Church (1200 28th Street SW, Grand Rapids, MI 49508) in Jack’s honor. The family welcomes memories and messages in their guest book online at www.cookcaresbyron.com.
