This is Elizabeth Brigham and Cousin Eddie is telling me his story. I was at my Uncle Johnny's. We were changing the front brakes on his vehicle. He had to leave and left me to finish it. (Ed) When he left, it was up to me to put the barriengs, the washer and the nut, then the cotter pin to lock it all together. Me being 15 years old he trusted me to fix it right. In doing so, I left out the cotter pin. So he went to work the next day, and when he came home, he said he had to fix his front wheel because it was trying to fall off. Eight years ago we talked about this incident and he laughed real hard as it was hilarious. I love you, Uncle John.

Great Uncle John was my grandmother Anna's brother.  He was genuine and he had a big heart!  He always made me feel loved!  Rest in peace!  Give Anna and Sharon big hugs!

Growing up we had an old Dodge Ram pick up truck that was bright orange with a royal blue tailgate.  John loved that truck and used it for everything.  Hauling dirt bikes, transporting paint supplies, countless trips up north to the club grounds for dirt bike runs, hunting, and anything else that needed to be done.  On weekends up north John would take us two-tracking.  Adults, kids, dogs, you name it.  Everybody in the truck!  He would race down back roads and just as we would reach the top of a big hill he’d tell us to close our eyes and tip our heads back.  Then he would get to the top, take his foot off the gas, and let the truck drop down the back side of that big road top hill and our stomachs would drop like we were on a roller coaster.  We would all scream and laugh.  And then he’d do it again…

Another time, John and I were running down 3 Mile Road right there by Old Carrieville Store and it was nothing but a washboard.  John didn’t realize it at first but as we started down the road we both started bouncing in that old ram bench seat.  It made us laugh, but then it started bouncing more and our heads were hitting the roof, we had tears in our eyes from laughing so hard.  He could have slowed down and made it less bouncy, but he just kept going fast because it was just so much fun.  

So many wonderful memories of being a kid in that truck.  Thank you John for all of those special times and making the little things in life so damn fantastic! 


I will always remember John as a man with leverage and a man with incredible mechanical tenacity, I learned many lessons from him.   John could always find a way to get things repaired, moved, loosened or repurposed despite insurmountable odds.  
On one particular memorable occasion we were remodeling a bathroom on the 2nd floor of a condo.  In this old bathroom there was a very heavy and ugly old bathtub that had to be removed.  When I explained to him that this was going to be a huge problem John said there was no problem, he went on to explain that we could simply use a set of 2X4 levers, a wrecking bar and sledge hammer to get it out of the small space it was in, take it down a flight of stairs and remove it from the condo!  After I said that his suggestion was impossible because the tub was made of steel and weighed 1000lbs, John proceeded to use his 2X4 levers to move the tub to the middle of the room much to my amazement.  And as if that weren't enough of a lesson he then put on some safety gear and took his sledgehammer to the tub.  Much to my astonishment we broke the tub into small enough pieces that we were able to remove it from the condo and take the steel pieces for recycling.  I will never forget the memory and the lesson(s) that day! 

My heart breaks for Sharon over her loss.   Her friend her partner in crime!  So many fond memories of john, from going on rides on his motorcycle to hours of cards and board games to just chatting.  I will miss john very much.

Uncle John was a story teller. He was always smiling and laughing. Much like Grandpa Tracy. Uncle John made sure I was welcomed when I would visit or if he was at the same place as I was, we always would sit, eat, and talk about what he would do when he was growing up. His stories were funny for sure. He was a man that most everyone enjoyed being around. Now he is with Grandma and Grandpa Tracy. Family is always important. Special people for sure. 💞

John was my father and I will miss him dearly, many fond memories, love you Dad, love Robin your daughter
