Nan was born in 1947 in Bradford, Pennsylvania to Ray and Blanche Crane. Around 1957, they moved to Ray’s home state of Texas. The Crane’s would settle in the Richwood / Clute area. It was there, in a carpool on the way to Vacation Bible School, that Nan would meet Pat Green.
Nan always loved playing with baby dolls. She loved caring for them and pretending to mother them. All her life, her desire was to be a wife and mother. Nan would work occasionally in children’s daycare and an upholstery shop, but her life’s occupation was her family.
There was only one person that Nan loved more than her husband and children and that was the Lord. The faith that she professed in Jesus at five years old guided her all her life. She would tell her children that her heart’s desire for them was to love and serve the Lord. Over the years, Nan served her various church families by teaching Sunday school, Vacation Bible School programs and singing in the choir.
Nan married Pat Green in December of 1968. They would have three children that she sang to, played with and treasured with all her heart. Nan and Pat spent much of their married life in Alvin, Texas. After retirement they would travel the country with their cocker spaniels and finally move to Burnet, Texas to care for her mother and be closer to family.
