Larry R. LaBrant, 81, of Burnet, Texas experienced a traumatic fall on January 27, 2022, and passed away on February 11, 2022, at Cornerstone Hospital in Round Rock, Texas.
A Graveside Service is planned for 10:00 am on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park, 4219 Park Rd 4 South, Burnet, TX 78611.
On February 01, 1941 he was born to A. Duane LaBrant and Virginia Hawes LaBrant in Stanley, N.D. In 1948 he traveled with his family to Creston, MT where he lived with them on their farm through his elementary and high school years. First attending Echo country school, then transferred to Flathead County High School in Kalispell, MT. He graduated from Montana State College with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1963. During his college years he was a member of Phi Sigma Kappa Fraternity and American Society of Mechanical Engineers. During his senior year he was awarded the honor of belonging to 'Septemviri' meaning "Seven Men," comprised of the seven most outstanding men in the senior class.
He met his wife, Nancy Beverly while in college and they married in June of 1963 following their graduation. Larry and Nancy began their married life in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where Larry was employed by DuPont. All three of their sons were born during their twelve years in Chattanooga. In 1976 Larry was transferred to DuPont's corporate headquarters in Wilmington, DE., affording them many boating trips on Delaware Bay and the Chesapeake Bay fishing for sea trout and blue crabs. Larry was transferred to Houston, TX in 1979 where Larry worked for DuPont and Conoco, retiring in 1993.
Larry and Nancy moved to Burnet, TX in 1995 and built their retirement home in the Delaware Springs golfing community. They fully expected to resume playing golf but caught the "Birding Bug" and quickly joined the Highland Lakes Birding & Wildflower Society and were very active for many years.
Retirement brought happiness and new interests to Larry. He became a gifted nature photographer, giving many slide presentations to area organizations. Larry LaBrant was a man of integrity. He loved and was very proud of his family. He was fiercely loyal and civic minded. He was not a complainer about difficulties even when, in later years, he was diagnosed with a type of dementia that robbed him of his short-term memory.
He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Harlan, brothers-in-law Dale Lauman and Don Baker. Larry is survived by his wife, Nancy of 58 years, sons, Mark LaBrant of San Marcos, TX; Eric LaBrant and wife, Danika and their two sons, Jacob and Kyle of Dayton, TX, Paul LaBrant of Austin, TX, brother, Floyd LaBrant and wife Toni of Prescott, AZ, sister Ardis Baker of Prescott, AZ, sister Lois Lauman of Lakeside, MT, brother-in-law Bud Beverly and wife Judy of Hurst, TX. Aunt Dorothy Kannianen of Belden, ND, Uncle Darold LaBrant of Minneapolis, MN, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Psalm 124:7-8 reads, “We have escaped like a bird from the snare of the fowlers; The snare has been broken, and we have escaped. Our help is in the name of the LORD”.
Larry Roland LaBrant became one of God’s children on November 14, 2021 when he called out to Jesus for help because he was between a “rock and a hard place”. So dearest Larry escaped on February 11, 2022 from the fowler’s snare of this life and with his struggles with dementia as well as from the effects of his traumatic fall. Shalom to you dearest.
