Iris was born in Gillingham, Kent, England in 1931. She was an evacuee for two years during WW II, went to Venezuela to teach for Shell Oil, and married a handsome American engineer. She and Paul raised their family as they travelled around the world.
Early in life, Iris discovered a love of music. Her family and friends remember her beautiful singing voice as one of her primary characteristics. In the last twenty years, she also found joy in painting oils and watercolors. Those who knew her admired her vitality and generous spirit.
In 1996, Paul and Iris retired in Burnet. Iris loved the Hill Country, especially because of the many friends they made.
A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Bertram on January 3rd, 2015 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Salvation Army of Burnet or the First Baptist Church of Bertram.
