After graduating from Thrall High School, Claudia went to work for the Army Corps of Engineers at Fort Hood. She later moved to Austin, where she began a 35-year career with IRS.
On December 22, 1946, she married Walter Nelson. They raised their family in Austin where they were long-time members of St. John's United Methodist Church. Claudia and Walter, known affectionately as Sis and Dutch, were known for their devotion to family. In 2005, they relocated to the Burnet/Marble Falls area.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Frank and Dean Nolte; and her sister and brother-in-law, Rosemary and Francis Hoffpauir.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Walter Nelson, currently residing in Marble Falls; her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Troy Ellett of Burnet; her son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Elaine Nelson of Humble; her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Vance Pennington of Burnet; ten grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Lois Nolte of Wenatchee, Wa.; her sister and brother-in-law, Kathryn and Joe Parker of Round Rock; her brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Gwen Nolte of Spring; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were held on Monday, December 30, at the chapel of Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home in Burnet, Tx. Burial immediately followed at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park.
The family would like to thank the staff at Granite Mesa in Marble Falls and Seton Highland Lakes in Burnet for their tremendous outpouring of love and care for her in these last two years. Memorial contributions can be made to the Youth Ministries at First United Methodist Church of Burnet, Tx.
