Hi Poh Poh. Been thinking about you and wish you were here to hold you newest great-grandson, Lum Joo-Mun. Poh Poh he is one month only now and he has the spirit of you; with is wit, joy, and purity. I know you are with us and watching over us and one day you will meet him along with Gung Gung. I know you are proud and I know how much happiness babies and kids bring to you. I wished dearly that you were here to celebrate and I know you are in your special ways.  I think about you often and know you are happy and well. Miss and Love you lots. Amazing news. Jenny and I are expecting our first miracle in March - another great grandson for you. I know you won't get to hold him on the day but I know you are blessing us with health and love. I hope you are well and please continue watching over all of us. I miss you.

Hi Poh Poh. 

Was thinking about you this morning when I woke up and just wanted to say that I miss you. I know that you are watching over us and playing with us no matter what we are doing but still miss you. It will be different without you in person here for my birthday coming up but I know you are with me celebrating and blowing out those special birthday candles with me like you always do. Love you lots.

It's a beautiful sunny day.  My thought went back some 30 years,  we are at Stanley park, Vancouver. It's Sunday, just like every other Sunday. The family packed in our station wagon, we come to  the Aquarian, we watch the show, spread out the blanket, have our packed lunch,  bath under the sun.,  go seesawing, swinging, slides, climb the web, feeding the birds, yes chasing the grandchildren, especially Jason, who is always wondering off by himself. We go for walks by the sea wall. Watch the sails. Now, the wading pool has gone, but mom you are still with us in spirit.
Watch over us  from above. Thanks for the memory. Time goes fast. But it never ends, each Sunday and every sunday. For a long time.

HI Poh Poh

A warm hug to you. I was thinking and missing you today when Jenny and I had dinner together at home. I thought back to the time you came for a visit with Mom and Dad and Jenny cooked a Korean meal for all of us. Dad and I went for a walk down to the River and you and Mom just chilled out having tea and biscuits. I am so happy that you came that day and had a chance to see our home - knowing that you have been here gives a peace that you know where I am and that you are looking over us. I miss you Poh Poh I know you are well and are enjoying the lovely sunset with me tonight. Love you

Today marks the 2month anniversary since you went to be with gung-gung again. I wonder every day how you're enjoying heaven and think how blessed everyone up there is to have you're happy presence. Miss the way you laugh at me, miss having lunch with you, miss the way you talk to birds, miss you're smile.. Just miss you lots. You got so exhausted at the end so Im happy to know you're in a better place. Love you lots xo

Hi Poh Poh, 

The other day I went to Forest Lawn to see you and brought you some flowers as you loved the beauty they hold. It was a nice day out and your view is pretty amazing. Although you are not physically with us, I know you were all our most recent birthday celebrations of Brian's, Amy's and Evan's. I missed you deeply at Linden's 30 day party as I know how much you love being around family and kids. Thank you for continuing to watch over us and please as always, send us your love and all the miracles you have always given me and all of us. Miss you Poh Poh and love you.

My name is Gary and I am one of Yeng Fong Mary Lam's grandchildren. I am honoured to be here sharing some special words about my grandmother today. 

Yeng Fong Mary Lam, my Poh Poh was born in Choong Sam on September 28, 1908. She was blessed to born into a large family with 2 brothers and 2 sisters, of which Poh Poh was the last to survive at 106 years of age. She grew up, with only 2 years of schooling, as family was the main priority and would only later, learn to read and write from her own children. In her 30's, during the second Sino-Japanese war, Poh Poh lived in Shanghai then moved to Macau where she lived for 10 years.  Her life in Canada eventually began in 1972. I have been blessed to have Poh Poh in my life from my day 1 and everyday since then. Simply, Poh Poh was an amazing and loving grandmother! 

Growing up, I can remember her easily cooking amazingly large meals for the entire family, or sewing our clothes together, especially patching up all the knee holes that Brian, Jason and I had from playing outside in the dirt. I remember her able to sew anything and loving it, as she took so much pride in sewing up buttons from my sister Karen's elementary school sweaters to my baby sisters Tracy's dolls. She helped out the family in every possible way, and yet she always was so present in our growing lives; she walked us to and from school, to our skating and swimming lessons. She packed our snacks and lunches, she fed us fresh vegetables from her garden, she cared for us when we were sick, comforted me when I had nightmares, and cheered all of us on, whenever we succeeded in life no matter how big or small - she did it all - and so much more. She not only was the caring and loving grandmother to my family but to all my cousins growing up, she literally had a hand and heart in raising us all up. Truly, there is a part of her in all of us!

There is so much to love about Poh Poh but I want to share with you, some of things she loved.

Poh Poh was a social butterfly. She loved people and people loved her. She was always constantly seeking out people to share in a moment of laughter. Poh Poh was like a lucky charm for many, representing good health, long life and happiness. 

Poh Poh loved good food especially - rice crispy squares, wontons, and her Hawaiian pizza. 

Poh Poh loved animals and especially birds that chirped. 

Poh Poh loved watching her Chinese soap operas at any time of the day

Poh Poh loved tissues for some reason, she always had some in her pockets.

Poh Poh loved giving us stuff, especially food, candy and money.

Poh Poh loved her walks in the gardens and watching the planes fly by at YVR with my Mom

Poh Poh loved drinking her hot water 

Poh Poh loved taking photos with her beautiful smile and playful giggles when we tickled her. 

Poh Poh loved my Dad deeply, she loved their scenic drives together and all the trips with him and Mom. 

Poh Poh absolutely loved playing with her grand-children and great-grand-children, and especially loved holding babies with her open heart.

And above all.Poh Poh loved, and I mean LOVED her family. She put her family above all, even herself right to the end.  She loved being a Mom, a grandmother, and a great-grandmother  today we celebrate my Poh Poh not only with her own 4 children, with her 10 grandchildren and her amazing 11 great-grandchildren. She truly she loved being around family

To my Poh Poh, no matter who you were in her life, you ALWAYS knew that you were loved by her, and you felt that by the way she smiled at you and more importantly, how excited she was when you walked in any room to see her. She would always point at you, give you a hug and kiss - like you just got off a plane from a long trip. Poh Poh always had that special gift of letting you know exactly, how much she loved you - each and every time. 

My greatest and favorite memory of Poh Poh was dancing at my wedding with her during the mother-and-son dance. My Mom graciously gave Poh Poh and I half of the song so I can have that dance with her. It's a moment in my life I will always cherish deep in my heart, as she did RAISE ME UP. 

Poh Poh was the very essence of family, love and happiness. Poh Poh, today is a special day that we get to say thank you for the way you have brighten all of our lives and instilled in us, that family is the most important thing in this world. 

So today we celebrate and remember a great woman, my grandmother, My Poh Poh - who truly lived her life to the fullest. I ask you to celebrate Poh Poh's life, as she did - like each and every time she saw you with that big hug and kiss.

I love you Poh Poh.

I deeply miss you Poh Poh. I know you are resting and with Gong Gong now. I miss your hugs, I miss your smile and laughter. I also wanted to say that even after  you are gone, I am still amazed at your brilliance of preparing your outfit. I was in awe of your every little detail to celebrate your life. Thank you again for our dance. Love you lots!
