She moved to Vancouver, BC, Canada in 1981 to be with her daughter Yim So and family. Wai Fong accepted Jesus Christ as her Saviour and was baptized on September 25, 2005. Wai Fong was remarkable in her determination and resilience as she recovered from bowel surgery in May 2022. Upon regaining her strength, she returned to eating what she loved and cooking elaborate meals—a steadfast expression of love for her family. Despite recent challenges to her health, Wai Fong cultivated a grateful heart towards God and did not cease to put others before herself.
Wai Fong was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who devoted her life to caring for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She will be remembered for her strength, resilience, vivacity, quick-wit, willingness to listen and learn, stories, pithy aphorisms, adventurous palate, knowledge of Chinese herbal medicine, practical remedies, flourishing vegetable and flower gardens, and delicious home cooking.
