Mr. Tack Yee Wong was born in 1919 in Swatow, China and lived in Vancouver since 1974. After suffering from a fall at home, he went into Vancouver General Hospital for treatment. He received excellent care and passed away peacefully at the hospital on December 15, 2016. His wife, Yuen Yu, and his five children (Jenny, Austin, Baldwin, Clement and Clare) were all around to bid him goodbye.
Tack Yee will also be missed by sons-in-law Henry and Victor, daughter-in-law Eileen, and grandchildren Marcus, Brandon, Alex, Aaron and Jaime, and granddaughter-in-law Tammy.
As a young man, Tack Yee went to school in Swatow and Shanghai but left China in the early fifties and eventually established successful businesses in Hong Kong. In the mid 1970s, he retired and moved with his family to settle in Vancouver, Canada. Tack Yee loved his new home, met many new friends, and enjoyed good food, gardening, watching sports and outdoor walking. He appreciated the company of his family and friends. Most importantly, he treasured the time spent with his over sixty year long companion and wife, Yuen Yu, who cared for him till the end.
A funeral service will be held at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 3789 Royal Oak Avenue, Burnaby, BC, on Friday, December 30th at 10:00 a.m. A reception will follow at the Peninsula Restaurant, Oakridge Centre, 650 W 41st Ave. Vancouver at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations will be made to the SUCCESS Simon KY Lee Seniors Care Home.
