Mr. Sam Shun Yuen Lau

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Sam Lau at SUCCESS Care Home in Vancouver at the age of 90 years with his family at his side. Our most profound gratitude goes out to the staff of SUCCESS Care Home for providing outstanding care for dad since 2016. We would also like to express our gratitude to Dr Alex She for the excellent care he provided Sam. Sam was predeceased by his wife Patti. He leaves behind his three children, Son Tim (Tracey Freeman) Lau and Granddaughters Danika and Vienna; Daughter Wendy (Reg Jefferd) Lau; Son Steve Lau.

Sam moved to Forget, Saskatchewan in 1963 from Hong Kong to support his mother Chang Tai after the passing of his father Yue Quing in 1963. Sam then worked hard with the help of Lucy Coderre to bring his wife Patti, son Tim and daughter Wendy to Forget in 1964 to begin a new life in Canada. We will forever be grateful to Lucy Coderre and all the people of Forget who were so gracious in adopting our family into their community. Sam and the family moved to Vancouver in 1974 where Sam lived until his passing. The comment most attributed to dad is that he was "quite the character". Farewell to a very beloved special character. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to SUCCESS Care Home.
