Mrs. Ruza Matak

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving mother and Baba – Ruza (Rose) Matak on August 9th, 2014. Ruza was born in Baric Draga, Croatia on April 27th, 1929. She is predeceased by her wonderful husband Ivo and her brother Ivan (Zora). She is survived by her children Johnny (Lidia), Miryana (Chris) and grandchildren Michael, Natalie, Cori (Denis) and Derek and great-grandchild Iva Rose, her sister Anka (Srecko) and Biserka (Nikola). Ruza was a woman full of life and energy and spent her lifetime looking after the ones she loved. She will best be remembered for her love of being in the company of friends and family and ensuring that everyone was well fed and enjoying themselves. Ruza was in her element when she had spent days preparing for others to come over and enjoy a wonderful mean and nobody ever left disappointed. She will be missed by all of us. The Funeral Mass will be held at The Immaculate Heart of Mary Croatian Parish on Wednesday, August 20th at 10:00 a.m. We would like to thank all the wonderful staff at Queen’s Park Care Facility for the years of ongoing care and support for Rosie. In lieu of flowers please make donations to BC Children’s Hospital.
