James Fa Yu Liu

October 20th, 1930~December 5th, 2023

It is with mixed feelings of sorrow and comfort that we announce the passing of our dear father and grandfather, James Fa Yu Liu, on December 5th of 2023 at the Burnaby Hospital and to be with his Lord Jesus Christ, at the age of 96. Two days before his passing, he was just celebrated of his 96’s birthday with his family.

Our dear father James Liu was born on October 20, 1930. His ancestral home is Zhenjiang County, Jiangsu Province, married our mother Ching Lien Wang Liu on April 25th, 1964, lived in Taichung, later settled in Xindian, Northern Taiwan, and had three sons and one daughter, Felex, Steven, Alex, and Lisa. They immigrated to Vancouver Canada in 1991.

James was an excellent television engineer. He worked for Chinese Television System (CTS) in Taiwan for most of his career. He had made great contributions in the field of engineering. Our father’s most proud masterpiece was the broadcasting of “Miss Universe 1988,” It was broadcast live simultaneously around the world exclusively through CTS, held in Taiwan for the first time. Dad was able to dedicate his engineering and English skills for a successful TV show to people around the world.

Active and quiet, our father loved classical music, photography, and table tennis etc. After his retirement, he was interested in computer learning and often played badminton to make friends. Our devoted father loves the Lord in serving as choir conductor, chairman of deacon at church in his early years. After settled in Canada, he served for the elderly brothers and sisters at Caleb Fellowship at ECBC in Vancouver.

The most precious moment for our dear father every day was the quiet time when he read the Bible and prayed to the Lord at the bedtime. He left us with such a great example of piety in devoting his life for his family, work, and the church.

Mr. James Liu’s Memorial Service will be held on January 6th (Saturday) at 1pm, in Ocean View Funeral Home’s chapel, 4000 Imperial St., Burnaby, BC, followed by a Committal Service at 2:30pm at Ocean View Burial Park.

先父劉法餘先生於二零二三年十二月五日在本拿比醫院息勞歸主，足享九十六歲高壽。父親離世前兩天剛與家人歡慶他九十六歲大壽，一生蒙神眷顧、兒孫滿堂、安享晚年。

我們親愛的父親生於1930年10月20日，祖籍是江蘇省鎮江縣，父親於1964年4月25日與母親劉王清蓮在台中中興新村結婚，婚後暫居台中北屯、後常居台北新店、育有三子一女，先彬、先中、先榮、先慧。全家並於1991年移民來加拿大溫哥華。

父親是一名優秀的電視工程師，生涯大半時間是在台灣的中華電視台(華視)任職，在工程領域上貢獻良多。父親最引以為傲的代表作是：「華視」獨家直播全球的「1988年環球小姐選美」，憑藉父親的工程技術和英語能力，成功的將「環球小姐」的轉播，呈現給全球的觀眾。能動能靜、興趣廣泛的父親生前酷愛古典音樂、攝影、乒乓球，退修後更是熱衷電腦學習、也常常以羽球會友。

一生虔誠愛主的父親早年在教會擔任詩班指揮、執事會主席等服事，退休後在溫哥華聖道堂「迦勒團契」服事年長的弟兄姊妹。父親生前每天最寶貴的時刻，莫過於在床前閱讀聖經，向主禱告的安靜時分，父親給孩子們一生留下了敬虔愛主、愛人、愛家庭、努力奮鬥的好榜樣。

父親劉法餘先生的追思禮拜訂於二零二四年一月六日(星期六)下午一點在「海景墓園」禮拜堂舉行，禮拜後隨即於二點三十分在「海景墓園墓地」舉行安葬典禮，歡迎兄姊參加悼念，謹此訃告！
