(November 21, 1932- December 26, 2022).
It is with great sadness that the family of Jack Lee announces his passing on Monday, December 26, 2022, at the age of 90.
Jack was born in Chatham, Ontario and moved to Vancouver with his family as a boy. He graduated from Kitsilano High School before attending the University of British Columbia to become a teacher. He began his career in Lake Cowichan before teaching high school science at Killarney and Eric Hamber in Vancouver. He had high standards for his students and pushed them to do their best throughout his over thirty years as an educator.
A highly intelligent man, he was characterized by an unfailing curiosity about the world around him. He enjoyed taking and developing his own pictures. Jack loved to tinker and took pride in being able to find solutions to almost any household problem using the bits and pieces he had accumulated over the years. A craftsman, he designed and built toys and furniture for those he loved. Along with Dorothy, Jack spent hours in the garden creating a showpiece that complete strangers would stop to admire.
A generous and loyal man, Jack loved his family and always wanted the best for them. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 62 years, Dorothy; children, Pamela (George), Lorna (Donald), Nancy (Scott), and Roger (Rachelle); grandchildren, Megan, Ian, Russell, Hazel, Benjamin, and Ana; his sisters, Margaret and Mary; and numerous other family members and friends.
Jack was predeceased by his parents, Yip and Sing Wong; and siblings, Fay, Thomas, Edith, Paul, Anne, and Helen.
The family extends their gratitude to the staff of the German Canadian Care Home for the kind and gentle attentiveness they provided.
No public funeral service will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to a charity of the donor’s choice
