Gerardo Cavallo

It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of our dear Gerardo "Gerry" Cavallo on April 6, 2017 at the age of 84 years. He is predeceased by his 6 loving brothers, Antonio, Felice, Nicola, Luigi Raffaele, and Armando. He is survived by his beloved wife Vincenza, daughter Rosanna (Richard), son Tony (Sarah), his grandchildren Paul, Eric, Amanda and his sister Maria in Argentina as well as his many loving family members in Canada and around the world. Following in his older brother's footsteps, Gerardo immigrated to Vancouver in 1958 from Montefalcione, Italy and began working tirelessly to build a better life in Vancouver for him and his family. Above all, he adored his family, friends, and neighbours. Gerardo greeted all people with great warmth and boyish enthusiasm. Family members notably remember his generous spirit to help anyone in need within a split second--no task was too big. As well as cherishing his family, friends, and community, he was also passionate about Italian card games, bocce, gardening, picnics, and his Catholic faith. Along with his great smile and warmth, Gerry will be remembered as someone who took care of many and asked for nothing in return. He will be forever in our hearts with love. Visitations will be held Tuesday April 11, 2017 from 6 to 8pm at Bell and Burnaby Funeral Chapel 4276 Hastings Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday April 12, 2017 at 10am at Our Lady of Sorrows 525 Slocan Street Vancouver. Entombment to follow at South Mausoleum Ocean View Burial Park Burnaby. In lieu of flowers, donations to the BC Heart and Stroke Foundation.
