It is with heavy hearts that we share the unexpected passing of our dear father, grandfather and husband, Fong Lum on November 24, 2021. Fong was born in 1940 in Toisan, China. He was the first born child and son of Wing and Louise and the eldest brother to Margaret and Irene.
After settling in Prince George, BC as a child, Fong grew up on a farm, before embarking on his career as a cook and working his way across BC where he finally settled in Vancouver to raise a family with his wife, Ling.
Blessed with twins, Kim & Allan then another boy, Richard, and finally another set of twins, Denise & Theressa.
During those years, Fong established a restaurant in the Steveston Hotel in Richmond, BC where he spent many years proudly creating delicious meals for loyal patrons.
When not working in the restaurant and providing for his family, Fong enjoyed long drives and visiting the local casinos and race track. As a devoted family man, Fong also loved creating many family memories and wonderful dinners to celebrate our times together.
Fong also adored being a grandfather to Ethan, Riya, Tabitha and Elizabeth.
Dad, you will be deeply missed and thank you for instilling the importance of family in all of us.
