Dora Wing

It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of Dora Choy Wing at the age of 98, loving wife of Jimmy Wing (predeceased 2000), wonderful mother to Noreen Chow, Gary Wing and Bob Wing (Becky) and inspiration to grandchildren Jarrett Chow (Kathleen), Shannon Law (Alex), Christopher Wing, Amanda Marthaller (Rob), Brandon Wing, Brenna Wing and Bradley Wing and great grandchildren Ronan, Devon, Liam and Remy. Dora was predeceased by her parents Choy Wai Gutt and Lo See Choy, her husband Jimmy and her younger sister Dolly and brothers in law Dan Yip and Tommy Wong. She is survived by her brother George (Lil), sisters Mabel (Fong) and Marie. Dora was the matriarch of the Choy family which currently numbers 63 and she leaves behind many grand and great grand nephews and nieces who will miss her smile and loving words of encouragement through life.

Dora had a wonderful full life which included travelling, spending time with family and friends and working beside Jimmy in their many entrepreneurial endeavors which closed with Wing’s Market in North Vancouver. Dora passed suddenly after a brief illness and had just returned from a reunion trip with her sister Marie to visit her sister Mabel and family in Los Angeles and brother George and family in San Francisco. To sum up Dora’s life in just a few words… everybody loved Dora as she brought sunshine, laughter and kind words to everybody she met. We were all so blessed to have had Dora be a part of our lives for such a long time. We will all miss her dearly.

Viewing Friday January 8 from 7:00 – 9:00 pm at Forest Lawn Funeral Chapel. Funeral service celebrating Dora’s life will be held on Saturday January 9 at 1:00 pm at Forest Lawn Funeral Chapel (Canada Way and Royal Oak in Burnaby)
