She is now reunited with her loving husband Maxie (Ming Yee) Lee and leaves behind her sons Wilson (Barbara, Los Angeles) and Donald (Lorna, Richmond), brother Anthony (Ying Yee, Hong Kong), sister Nancy (Raymond, Hong Kong), grandchildren Grace, Malcolm and Sam, nieces and nephew Elaine, Kelly and Jackson and their families.
Ching La was born and raised in Hong Kong where she met and married Maxie in 1960. After raising their 2 sons in Hong Kong, they travelled to New Zealand to attend Donald’s graduation from engineering and to Los Angeles to attend Wilson’s graduation from his graduate degree in Ministry Studies and see him lead as pastor of his church. In 1996 they immigrated to Canada where they settled in Richmond to help raise their grandchildren.
Ching La and Maxie's love of food and family extended into their local community of businesses and restaurants where shopkeepers and restaurant staff alike greeted them while they expressed their concern and care for everyone. Ching La’s generous spirit and verve for life will not be forgotten.
A private service will be held July 20, 2020 at Oceanview Chapel Courtyard.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Richmond Hospital (richmondhospitalfoundation.com).
The family would like to thank the caring members of Richmond Home Health Services and Richmond Hospital’s Palliative Care and 6th Floor unit and to especially thank Ching La’s friends at the Richmond Chinese Alliance Church and Richmond Rotary Hospice for their kindness and support during the last 18 months.
