Carol touched my life by showing me love when I felt so unlovable...she will always hold a very special place in my heart. Leo, Cathy and Joey you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Carol was an amazing person whose life has touched many families.  It was my great privilege to know her through BC Council for the  Family.

I am so shocked and heart heavy to receive the news of Carol's death as I didn't know of her illness. She and I were counterparts in the family relations field. She at the BC Council for the Family and I at National Council on Family Relations.  We shared so many experiences and discussions as well as travels together! Most memorably was our trip to Taiwan to do a workshop and our work with the International Union of Family Organizations. She was a valuable member of the NCFR Board. I so admired her calm, gracious and wise manner and her love and devotion to you and the family, as well as her great joy when the grandchildren arrived. When I reflect on my  career in education I think about the teachers who inspired me. Sister Carol Joseph was my grade 5 teacher at OLPH in Vancouver. She was a caring, thoughtful, supportive educator who helped me believe I was a capable learner. 
Carol leaves a legacy of valuing and nurturing every child that all teachers hope to emulate.

That was our Carole.  She will be dearly missed and always fondly remembered.  I am so grateful for the friendship and love she brought to my life and to so many others.

Our 5 years together at MSV in Halifax "cemented" a life-long friendship among us over all these years.  Whether Sisters of Chrity or Ex-Members,we have prided ourselves on our "indestructible connection" and Carol was so much a part of this and so loved.  We will miss her dearly.

My thoughts and prayers are with Carol's family and friends... I have so much admiration and respect for a wonderful colleague who I looked up to as a champion, leader and mentor... I have a wonderful photo of her and will always appreciate the times I got to work with her and the many times our paths crossed working for children and families...

Carol has touched my heart at so many levels over the years I had known her. She was kind, caring, passionate, supportive and understanding with a smile on her face that did not leave her even during her sickness. Leo, condolences to you and your family.

The beauty and goodness of Carol's life will continue to live my heart forever.

Carol was a role model for me and an inspiration.  She believed in the strengths of children and families.  Without her leadership, kindness and commitment to a society of love and understanding for all families, we wouldn't dare to have built many excellent services for families that offered support and not judgment in times of struggle.  She will be dearly missed and never forgotten.  I send my appreciation and prayers to her family at this sad time.

Carol was one of the most genuine, kind and caring people I ever had the privilege to meet. While our paths only crossed occasionally, every time we reconnected she made me feel like a long lost friend. She has left us far too soon and she has left a legacy few can equal. To her family, my condolences for your loss.

Leo, in deep condolence, I'm also grateful that Carol brought you north to teach and together help us here be better. Carol kindly welcomed some of us, your VC faculty colleagues, into your home about 38 years ago. Since then I was happy to sometimes meet her in her family-wellness role and read about its success. It's great and so fitting that her personal family was there with Carol in her time of need. Best wishes always.

I feel lucky and blessed to have had Carol as a mentor. What a pioneer she was and I admired her so. It was a gift to work with her. I know she is no longer suffering and for that I am thankful. She was a very special person and I will remember her fondly, always. My deepest condolences to her family.

Carol stands out for her unwavering dedication to the well being of children and families, her grace (no matter what was coming at her), and her positivism. Whenever we met, her loving presence, kindness and sharp mind just made my day that much better. Valentina and I loved Carol and we will miss her terribly. She was the dearest friend. We know how hard this is for us and can only imagine how hard this is for Leo, Cathy, Joey, Molly and Jack and our thoughts and prayers are with you. She was the very best example of how a human life should be lived, we are so lucky to have had her as long as we did.

Leo, Catherine, and Joey - my heart goes out to you.  Your wife/Mum inspired so many, me included.  An exemplary "citizen of the world" and contributor to community, she touched my life in ways I may never fully know - as she did for so many others.  Your loss must seem unbearable.  MY love to you to help sustain you in the days, weeks, and months to come.

My hat goes off to Leo, Cathy, Joey, her sister Mary and brother Marvin for all the love, devotion and care given to Carol during her illness.  Carol and my friendship goes back in time to when we were both 4 years old and since we have been true "soul sisters".  I will miss her desperately, but know she is in a better place--free of the scourge of ALS. She was always so committed to the well-being of others.  We all loved her so much.

I have known Carol since 1958 when we were in Halifax with the Sisters of Charity until we were "missioned" in 1963.  The next time we met was when we were both in graduate school when friends of mine ventured forth from Catholic U. in Washington, DC to Minnesota and stopped in South Bend to visit Carol.  Leo you must have been there then.  We next met when Carol taught in the Family Institute at the Mount where I taught. Our "band" has a very special bond. Carol's coming from Vancouver for reunions surely attests to that.  We loved her!
Carol was a very special person-always positive, organized and thoughtful  as so many testimonials will say

My thoughts are with Carols entire family, especially Leo whom she spoke of with such love and admiration.  Carol and I spent more than 7years together working with the BC Council for Families and in that time I never saw her waiver in her determination to make our province the best it could be for families and children. I learned a great deal from her and will always remember her huge smile and welcome heart.  She will be dearly missed.

Carol & I dated a few times in Gr 11@ND. I went to the Seminary and she went to the Convent. 3yrs ago we started to e-mail and met in Wpg for a drink in June 2013. I'm so happy we finally met. She was one of my favourite's; Cheerful, happy, personal & nice to everyone which she duplicated in her work life. What a Legacy she left.Leo, I'm so sorry for your loss. She was 1st class all the way. My prayers & best wishes to you, your 2 kids and grandkids. I will miss our e-mails & her sweaty eyes!
