It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Alan (Al) who passed away at 98 years young.
He leaves behind his much-loved daughter Lorene and son-in-law Ken, cousins Robert (Rose), and Ron, his brother’s sons Ross (Elaine) and Rick (Margaret) & business partner and buddy Burton (Irene, Allison & Spencer) and many nieces, nephews, friends and employees.
He is predeceased by his wife Doris, parents Oswald & Beatrice, brothers Lorne and Don (Edna).
Alan was born in Vancouver on July 15, 1924 at St. Paul’s Hospital. He attended Hastings School, Templeton Junior High then on to Britannia High School. After leaving school in 1940 he would work full time at the family business Restmore Manufacturing. Alan served in the Second World War as an Engineer (Sapper) like his father and uncle in the First World War. Alan returned to work at Restmore after the war.
He married Doris in 1951 and they started their life together in their Burnaby Home.
Alan was a Certified Professional Purchaser which served him well in his many managerial positions in local business. At the age of 63, Alan started ABD Boats with Burton, successfully building over 300 boats.
Alan lived a full and active life. He had a passion for Music, Singing, Playing the piano and organ. He enjoyed swimming, canoeing, racquetball and all forms of exercise. He was active in his community through volunteering at Church, as a Choir Leader, in Scouting and CIMarE. He believed in continuing education.
He had fond memories of time spent at Restmore Lodge, Jones Lake, Jones Creek, Cultus Lake and Cruising with family and friends.
Special thanks to Dave, Jacquie and Les for looking out for him over many years and to Ken’s family for including him in family celebrations.
He loved his family, friends and especially his WORK.

A Celebration of life will be held on Sunday July 9, 2023 at 1PM. At Forest Lawn Chapel, 3789 Royal Oak Ave.. Burnaby, BC. Reception will follow.
