Beloved wife, mom and grandmother. She is survived by her husband of almost 55 years, James and her family. Son John, his wife Kim and their three children, Jennifer, Brad and Connor. Daughter Sheila and her husband Jerry. Their third child Jim Jr. and of course the dogs, Sequoia and Angel.
Dot was born and raised in Glendale, CA. She attended the school for the deaf in Los Angeles. Her mom would drive her and her life long friends everyday to school in school bus.
Dot met her husband Jim at a basketball game for the deaf at her school when Jim’s school traveled from Sioux Falls South Dakota. Dot’s friend Robert Grinde introduced them to each other. They were out of contact for a while and Jim asked Robert whatever happened to my girlfriend. Dot found out and send Jim a letter and it was a match made in heaven.
They were married at Saint Robert Bellarmine Church in 1955. They had their first child John a year after they were married. Then came Sheila and few years later their last child Jim Jr.
They bought their home in Glendale and built a second home on the same lot in 1972. All three of their children were raised in the same home with the help of their loving grandparents.
James and Dorothy were very active in the deaf community. They have been a large part of the Catholic Deaf Church. They have always had a great group of deaf friends since childhood. They would have poker games once a month at the different houses and enjoy each others friendship and company.
Dot enjoyed her gambling. She was pretty lucky at it also. She would sit there for hours at the tables just cashing in her winnings. Every Sunday she would enjoy playing Skipo with her husband, Sheila, Jerry and anyone.
